FBU BALLOT: One Week to go
To all London FBU members
In view of the brigade’s decision to censor FBU communications, we would ask that all those who receive this message bring it to the attention of their colleagues, either at roll call or another opportune moment.
London FBU is urging all members who have not yet voted in the current ballot for industrial action to do so as a matter of urgency. Ballot forms must be returned in the pre-paid envelope to arrive at the scrutineers by 2.00pm on Thursday 6 August. Votes will be counted and the result announced the same day.
It is crucial that we achieve a high turnout to send to the brigade the clearest possible message that our members are demanding to be heard. No longer are we prepared to accept a culture in which brigade managers deem it acceptable to drive through unwelcome change with no regard for the concerns of the workforce.
We would reiterate that members should not confuse the official ballot form with the consultative questionnaire that was recently sent to home addresses. The questionnaire – printed on white paper - contained a number of statements about current working life in the London Fire Brigade, and members were invited to 'agree' or 'disagree' by ticking the appropriate box. The official ballot form – printed on green paper – simply required members to place a mark in a box confirming whether they were prepared to take industrial action.
Those who completed and returned the questionnaire will still be required to return the official ballot form.
Members are invited to view the new-look London FBU website at www.london.fbu.org.uk for further information regarding the current industrial dispute and other matters.
